Make room
for the laughs

You can start the conversation before every detail is settled. Use this guide to gather what you know, then confirm the arrangements for your event with The Comedy Series.

The schedule

How long is the show?

As a general planning guide, a single comedian’s set often runs 30 to 60 minutes. A lineup with several acts needs a longer slot. Your actual running time depends on the performers and format.

Plan ahead: Keep time for arrivals, dinner, speeches, and raffles separate from the comedy. Share your preferred start and finish times.

Sound & lighting

Who brings the equipment?

Tell us whether your venue has a handheld microphone, mic stand, speakers, and lighting for the performance area. Include a venue contact who knows the setup.

Confirm together: Who supplies each item, who sets up and checks the sound, and whether equipment or staffing adds to the cost.

The space

What makes a good comedy room?

Guests need to see and hear the comedian comfortably. Aim for seating facing the performance area, clear sightlines, and a room where background music and other distractions can pause.

Share your setup: Send the room’s seated capacity, photos or a floor plan, and any stage, access, or outdoor weather considerations.

Getting people there

How will we promote it?

For public shows, talk through the event listing, ticket link, artwork, social posts, and any printed materials. For private events, focus on invitations and clear guest information.

Agree on the plan: Confirm which materials and promotion are included, who publishes them, and any paid advertising budget. Your organization’s own audience is an important part of the plan.

Still choosing a venue?

Share the city, expected attendance, and type of event. You can discuss the room requirements before you settle on a space.

What shapes
the price?

A quote depends on the show you want and what it takes to deliver it. Sharing a comfortable budget range helps our team explore suitable options.

Good questions

Before you
book

A few quick answers for venues, companies, schools, teams, and community organizations.

Can the show be clean?

Yes. Clean, PG 13, and adult lineups are available. Our team matches the tone to the audience and occasion.

Can comedy work as a fundraiser?

Yes. The Comedy Series can help shape an adult night out that supports a team, school, nonprofit, or community cause.

Does our venue need to be a comedy club?

No. The Comedy Series brings comedy to restaurants, event spaces, community venues, private rooms, festivals, and hometown stages throughout Michigan.

What information should we have ready?

Start with your preferred date, city, estimated crowd size, audience, and goal. A budget range, room photos, equipment list, and preferred performance length help our team narrow the options. It is fine if some details are still flexible.

Can we request a particular comedian?

Yes. Mention the name in your inquiry or use the individual inquiry form from a comedian’s profile. Availability and pricing need to be confirmed for your date.

Does sending an inquiry reserve our date?

No. An inquiry starts the conversation. Wait for booking confirmation and agreed terms before announcing a lineup or putting tickets on sale.

How far in advance should we reach out?

The earlier the better, especially when you have a firm date or specific comedian in mind. Send the inquiry even if you are still exploring possibilities.
